Installation of Electric Door Strike for Home

Installing the electric door strike is more affordable and it gives an unmatched level of security and safety. An electric door strike can be installed on a wooden or metal door frame and can be set to be locked and unlocked remotely by a push of a button. An electric door strike is an extraordinary control access device used for your doors. It replaces the firmed strike faceplate frequently used with latch bars or commonly called as a keeper. Similar to fixed strikes, an electric door strike generally presents an inclined surface to the lock latch for allowing your door to latch and close.

Electric door Strike

An electric door strike's inclined surface can pivot out the way when locks on the door are in the locked arrangement and the door is opened, allowing a person to open his door without using mechanical keys or controlling the mechanical lock. When the door is now opened past the keeper, it relocks and returns to its initial position when power is applied or removed, depending on the electric door strike's configuration. It is occasionally equipped with buzzers which enable somebody outside your door to hear when the door is opened.

This buzzing noise is normally made by the application of AC (alternating current) to the strike instead of DC (Direct Current). When using a direct current powered strike, buzzer accessories can be added to create the buzzing noise if preferred. There are lots of producers of electronic door strikes and there are various things that need to be considered when buying an electric door strike such as type of locking hardware, type of jamb, whether someone needs fail-safe or fail-secure, depth of jamb, length of latch, the length of the faceplate and voltage requirements.

An electric door strike is typically available in 2 configurations:
1. Fail-secure – it is also referred to as non-fail safe or fail-locked. In this kind, the application of electric current to the door strike causes it to unlock. During power surges, the strike remains unlocked, thus the mechanical lock can be used for opening the door from the inside.
2. Fail-safe – it is also referred to as fail-open. Applied current causes the strike to lock. It runs in the same way as a magnetic lock. If there's a power surge, the door opens likely by being pulled or pushed. This kind of configuration is always run by DC.
